I didn’t always know what a microbiome was, let alone how much it impacted my inflammation, digestion, and mood. But now I understand how much I’ve harmed mine—mostly unintentionally.
Growing up, my mom meant well. Anytime we had a sore throat, she gave us penicillin. She wasn’t a doctor, but back then, that’s what people did—especially in immigrant households where you treated everything at home. Unfortunately, repeated doses of penicillin wiped out my good gut bacteria. Today, I’m allergic to it.
As I got older, I continued to damage my microbiome in other ways. I ate tons of spicy food (we’re talking fire levels of chile), thinking it was harmless. But overeating spice, especially on an empty stomach, made my gut lining more vulnerable.
Now I’m on a slow, steady journey to heal. Here’s what I’m taking:
- Neem Leaf Capsules – 2 capsules, 3x a day for 15 days to target harmful microbes.
- FC Cidal – 1 capsule, 3x a day starting on day 3 with Neem. It’s a strong herbal blend that supports microbial balance.
- Oregano Oil – A few drops daily with food. This oil is incredibly potent and supports gut cleansing.
- FiberMend Powder – I introduce this gently, starting with ¼ scoop and working up to 1 scoop. It helps feed the good bacteria.
- Saccharomyces Boulardii – After FiberMend, I take this for one week, then add my trusted Pendulum probiotic.
This is my ritual. My way of reclaiming health one layer at a time.
If your gut is hurting, I hope this gives you a starting place—and reminds you that healing is possible, even after years of unknowingly doing it “wrong.”
Con cariño,
Sandra
